Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation

I am a huge fan of Charlotte Tilbury products and so couldn’t wait to get my hands on her new ‘Magic Foundation’. I’ve been using Light Wonder in my pro kit since it launched and love it but have been looking for something with a bit more coverage and more of a matte finish so I was really keen to give this a go.

Its described as –  a new generation of anti-ageing, full coverage foundation that morphs to your face in a weightless texture, for a perfect second skin that lasts all day. Available in 15 shades, the new Magic Foundation range creates perfect skin. Its been 5 years in the making so I had high expectations that this really was going to be my go to foundation for not just my kit but me too!

First a little more about the magic and its claims….

Problem skin transforms into Perfect Skin before your very eyes. The hyper-intelligent formula dispenses evenly over your skin and does not sit in imperfections. Magic Foundation is a miracle in a bottle that transforms every skin type into flawless, poreless perfection. A “hyper-intelligent” formula that’s totally full-coverage yet completely weightless. The formula dispenses evenly over your skin and does not sit in imperfections creating your flawless second skin. Whether you suffer from acne, redness, discolouration or dull, tired skin Magic Foundation will give you a perfect skin day, every day! It will magically reduce redness, make open pores disappear, cover imperfections, banish under-eye bags, and instantly brighten dull skin. It truly is confidence and perfect-skin in a bottle…

What are the Magic Ingredients?

  • Laricyl: This is a concentrated mushroom extract. In French medical legend it was highly sought after as an elixir for longer life. Triple action: It improves skin firmness, Magically tightens pores, Floods the skin with moisture
  • Hyaluronic Filling Spheres: These genius spheres fill with moisture as they are absorbed into the skin, plumping the skin with water, reversing wrinkle grooves. This takes effect almost immediately, and within 1 hour your skin is a smoothed and re-texturised canvas.
  • Supercharged Vitamin C (VC-IP):This brand-new skin hero ingredient has been tested clinically in several In-Vivo tests and is the first time it is integrated into a foundation. Vitamin C is a well-known anti-oxidant that revives skin for a glowing, lit-from-within complexion. VC-IP, super-charged Vitamin C, has been tested against the leading vitamin C ingredient Ascorbic Acid (AsA), and is far more effective at feeding the skin’s cells with energy. It converts into pure vitamin C within the skin, giving protection and energy directly to the skin’s cells and DNA.

So here are my thoughts!

I liked the bottle, although glass, its not too heavy, a major consideration for carrying in my kit. There’s a pump applicator so you can dispense it easily too. I immediately could see the difference in texture to Light Wonder, its much creamier and a lot thicker, Light Wonder can be watery if you don’t shake the tube well.

On applying it though I found it wasn’t as thick as I expected and blended beautifully on my skin, I found it really easy to build up without getting too heavy and was really impressed with the cover it gave. I don’t have a huge amount of issues to cover but I can get breakouts and dark under my eyes and I also have a little redness around my nose and this seemed to address all these issues while still allowing my skin to look like skin! It has a light smell but not particularly noticeable when on the face.

I was really interested to see how this wore during the day and so didn’t use powder to really see if it was a semi matte finish as claimed. Remarkably I didn’t get a shiny nose despite being quite active and not touching it all day. I did try it with and without a primer and it lasted well on both occasions.

I really liked the finish as it wasn’t completely matte so I didn’t feel like my skin looked flat either. I tried Fair 4 first as this is the colour I used in Light Wonder but it was a little too light and yellow and I have a slight tan so opted for Medium 5 which works well on me.
